The face of Airo, that’s me: Johan Vander Meiren. Nice to meet you! For over twenty years, I have been a passionate balloonist.

A childhood dream that has come true.
And I would love to share that passion with you.

As a child, I had one clear dream: to fly. With an airplane, helicopter, or any other aircraft, that wasn’t set in stone yet. That’s why I put together scrapbooks and eagerly crafted things. I followed hot air balloons on my bike, trying to get closer to the teams in any way possible.

That’s how I later started as a crew member with a balloon team, got to lead my first flight in 2004, and eventually started commercial balloon flights in 2006. In the meantime, we have completed over 1400 flights, and the passion grows with every flight I get to make.

In spring and summer, I am mainly active in Belgium, but you can’t fly comfortably all year round in our country. That’s why I often spend time abroad to conduct balloon flights at events. From the Philippines and India to Mexico and many countries in between. In winter, we sail annually for one week in the Alps.

Through those years of experience, I have encountered almost all conditions in the air myself. That helps me to provide you with a safe and comfortable flight with Airo. We deliberately strive for a luxurious premium experience. Optimal comfort, so you can experience the balloon flight in ideal conditions.
